UGC NET Exam 2023

UGC NET Exam 2023 : National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the task of conducting UGC-NET by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Which is an examination to determine the eligibility of Indian citizens for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and ‘Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges.

UGC-NET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode from December 2018.

The award of eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Assistant Professorship depends on the overall performance of the candidate in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. Candidates who have qualified only for Assistant Professorship are not eligible for the award of JRF. Candidates who qualify the eligibility test for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations of the respective Universities/ Colleges/ State Governments, as the case may be, for the recruitment of Assistant Professor.

UGC-NET is conducted twice (June and December) every year. Due to the outbreak of COVID- 19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the cycles of UGC NET were conducted together.

In order to regularize the UGC-NET exam cycle, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of the UGC, is conducting the UGC NET December 2022 in February and March 2023 in 83 subjects in selected cities across the country.

UGC NET Registration 2023 Dates:

  1. Start of registration process – 29 December 2023
  2. Last date for form submission – 17 January 2023
  3. Date of Examination – 21 February 2023 to 10 March 2023

Application Fee

  1. General / UR Category – Rs. 1100/-
  2. General-EWS/OBC-NCL Category – Rs. 550/-
  3. SC / ST / PWD / Transgender – Rs. 275/-

UGC NET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:

To be eligible candidates must have passed master degree from any recognized board or university.
Percentage: Applying candidate must have obtained minimum 55% marks (50% as OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender) without rounding off.

UGC NET Age limit

The age of the candidate for JRF should not be more than 31 years.
Reserved category candidates will be given age relaxation of 5 years. There will be no maximum age limit for Assistant Professor.

Appearing: Candidates appearing in the final year in the year 2023 will also be eligible to apply for UGC NET 2023.

How to apply for UGC NET 2023:-

1 – Visit the official website of ugcnet.nta.nic.in
2 – On the home page, click on the “Register Here” link.
3 – Fill the details like name, phone number, email id, aadhaar number, parent’s name etc.
4 – Now login using the OTP provided on the registered phone number and email ID.
5 – Fill other educational and asked details and complete the process.
6 – Upload passport size photograph and signature in jpg format.
7 – Now submit the application fee as per your category.
8 – Once the fee is submitted, a confirmation page will appear on your computer screen.
10 – Take a printout of it and keep it safe for future use.

UGC NET 2023 application correction

Candidates will be able to edit incorrect details (if any) in UGC NET 2023 Application Form through online mode. It will be made available from the third week of February 2023 for the December session. To edit the details candidates have to use their login credentials.

UGC NET Exam 2023 syllabus
